Jasmine Taylor is a professional telemarker : Jasmin is the first British woman to win a medal at the World Championship in the telemark discipline. She spends the winter in Chamonix, France, where she trains for the 2019 World Championship season and World Championships. Persistent and hard-working, Jaz's exceptional talent for telemark is matched only by her fierce determination and ambition to one day become a World Champion.
Jasmin has achieved four World Cup victories across all three disciplines and has 22 World Cup podiums to her name. Jaz is five time British Champion and 2013 French Cup Champion. She finished second in the Parallel Sprint and third in the Classic overall World Cup 2017/18 standings.
Jaz joined the British Ski Academy as an athlete aged 12, competing as an alpine skier. After becoming the youngest British Ski Cross Champion ever, aged just 15, she made the England Freestyle Ski Team in 2009. It was during this time Jaz started telemark skiing, a discipline for which she showed potential on a far larger scale, competing in 2011 at her first World Junior Championship.
Jaz was invited to the World Junior Championships after the British Telemark Ski Team spotted her results in the French Cup series following her frequent podium appearances. Jaz has been on the team ever since. During winter, she bases herself in Chamonix, France, and is currently training for the World Cupseason and the 2019 World Championships.   • At what age did you start skiing 10 years old, on the dry ski slope in England.
  • When and why did you start Telemark? 16 years old, with Sebastien Mansart whilst at the British Ski Academy doing a Telemark trail week.
  • What do you like about telemark?The freedom of movement and feeling whilst skiing.
  • What do you like about Meidjo bindings? The accuracy from the foot to the ski.
  • What is your favorite spot for telemarking? Les Houches, no place like home.
  • What is your next destination or place where you would like to telemark? I would like to visit Japan.
  • Did you compete? What prize did you win? Yes, this season in 2019 1st x1, 2nd x2, 3rd x4 during world cups.
  • What is your job?I’m a gym instructor and student studying part time.
  • What other sports or non-sports activities do you practise? I study Sport & Exercise Science, I like to sail and surf and wind surf.

Colin Dixon

Colin Dixon is part of the English telemark team. He lives in France and studies in England. Like his brother Alec, Colin has won many medals at championships.

  • Specialization in telemark : Racing.
  • At what age did you start skiing? I started skiing at the age of 3, I think, and telemark at the age of 11.
  • When and why did you start telemarking? I started telemark about 11 years ago, when my dad offered me to try it out.
  • What do you like about telemark? It’s different. I enjoy being close to the ground when carving. The community is fantastic.
  • What do you like about Meidjo bindings? They are light and the transitions between corners are incredible. I really like the fact that the binding shows resistance the whole way through.
  • What is your favorite spot for telemarking? I really enjoy telemarking at home in the Jura, Crozet is a great place for off piste skiing if you know where to go.
  • Where is your next destination or where would you like to go telemarking? Any place which has a meter of powder. But Greenland and Iceland seem interesting.
  • Did you compete? What prizes did you win? I compete on the French cup and World cup circuits as well as the British championships. Anything from cheese to cups and medals.
  • What is your job? I am a student at Loughborough University.
  • What other sports or non-sports activities do you do? I play football and enjoy running. I also play drums.

Alec Dixon

Alec Dixon is part of the English telemark team. He lives in France and studies in England. Like his brother Colin, Alec has won many medals at championships.

  • At what age did you start skiing? I started at the age of 3
  • When and why did you start telemarking? I started telemarking at the age of 9. It was an entirely different and new sport to me. Which is why I started Telemarking.
  • What do you like about telemark? I like the variety of disciplines which can only been done in telemark.
  • What do you like about Meidjo bindings? I like the progressive stiffness of the Meidjo bindings. As I also use them in race conditions, I really appreciate the lightweight design.
  • What is your favorite spot for telemarking? My favourite spot for Telemarking is in my home resort of Crozet on the Jura Mountains in France.
  • Where is your next destination or where would you like to go telemarking? My next destination will be wherever I will have the opportunity to compete in the next telemark race. My dream telemark location would be Corbert’s Couloir, Jackson Hole Resort, USA.
  • Did you compete? What prizes did you win? I do compete. I have won multiple prizes ranging from winning the French championships to winning the French cup.
  • What is your job? I am currently studying Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University, UK.
  • What other sports or non-sports activities do you do? I do a lot of mountain biking, and I also do some running. I also participate in the University's Motorsports team.
