Laura Grenier-Solliget

Laura is from Lamoura, a small ski resort located in the Jurassic massif near Geneva. When she was a teenager, she decided to live in the Alps, to fully live her passion for alpine skiing in competition.
In 2009, she turned to the telemark discipline and won several podiums in the World Cup. In parallel, Laura studied marketing and management at Inseec de Chambéry.
Now she shares her passion in Haute Savoie and juggles her activity as an instructor and trainer for the telemark club of Samoens.

  • Age: 29
  • Place of birth: Saint Claude
  • Place of residence: Samoens
  • Telemark speciality: Freeride and track, the two are completely different. Adapting your technique to the terrain is what I prefer.
  • At what age did you start skiing? At 2 and 1/2 years old
  • When and why did you start telemark? 12 years old to get out of the monotony of alpine skiing
  • What do you like about telemark? The attitude, the fluid gesture, being close to the snow and especially being different from the others 😉
  • What do you like about Meidjo bindings? The fluidity of the movement, the progressiveness and a much larger margin of flexion of the rear foot. I discovered another way to telemark in the powder that I didn't have before. It is much easier to handle my skis. On the track I have improved my technique.
  • What is your favorite spot for telemarking? I don't have a preference but I have a weakness for a beautiful virgin slope without obstacles.
  • What is your next destination or place where you would like to go telemarking? In Norway
  • Did you compete? What prizes did you win? Yes, I was part of Telemark's French team for 6 years. My best result: 3rd in the overall world cup ranking in 2014. And several times French champion.
  • What is your job? I am a ski instructor mainly.
  • What other sports or non-sports activities do you practise? Climbing, trail, travel and cooking 😉
